A Zachary Lesson

Posted June 11th, 2009 by Sue

Well, in my years of being close with Zachary, I learned to watch him and use his actions as a positive example. I often find myself asking the question, “What would Zachary do?”

Serious Medicine. Extraordinary Care.

Posted May 21st, 2009 by Sue

Zach and I were always grateful for the two parts that made up UNMC: the treatment of cancer and treatment of our spirits. "Serious Medicine. Extraordinary Care." is not just a saying. It's the way it is at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

I don't know why some people live to 100 and some to 26.

Posted April 24th, 2009 by Sue

And for the record I don’t spend my days wondering why. I spend my days with my face to the sun busting with thanksgiving that both of them lived at all and in their lifetimes showed me love.

Welcome to TeamZachary.com

Posted April 8th, 2009 by Ann

Zach serving in Iraq, 2004Welcome to TeamZachary.com. Generations of the May family live in a small community in Bloomington, Indiana.

Team Zachary started when Zachary was first diagnosed with cancer. The fact is that Zachary is loved by so many people! Grandparents, siblings, friends all over the country and they all wanted an update and we wanted information to be as accurate as it could be.

Starting to write Team Zachary was just a good defense. When he was first diagnosed there was an onslaught of phone calls and questions that everyone seemed to ask all the time. There was no getting around it. Everywhere any of us went kind loving people wanted an update. Family members had to continue to tell very emotionally difficult stories that could sometimes be hard to get accurate.

Team Zachary and the letters that follow on the site were my way of communicating to a growing community of people who love Zachary.

Team Zachary is about life and love and faith and hope and did I mention love—it deserves another mention. He dies at the end of the story but here’s the thing—we’re all gonna die at the end of our stories. TeamZachary.com is about the extraordinary journey we all took because Zachary Paul May lived at all.
